  1. A centipede is a jointed-legged animal. They
  2. have a distinct head and a single pair of 
  3. long antennae. Their bodies are composed of
  4. segments which may number nearly 200, Most
  5. are small, but the some tropical centipede's
  6. may reach 30cm (1ft) in length. Millipedes, 
  7. have fewer segments of up to 100, but have
  8. two pairs of legs on each. They are 
  9. Nocturnal, frequently blind, and all are 
  10. carnivorous. Centipedes live in moist, dark
  11. places, and protect themselves by a poisonous
  12. secretion. They have a pair of poison claws,
  13. and strong jaws with poison fangs. The bite
  14. of some tropical species is dangerous to 
  15. humans.
